Angela Christlieb

Studied Video Art and Experimental Filmmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts of Berlin, Germany under Valie Export, Heinz Emigholz and Elfi Mikesch. In 1997, she moved to New York with an Emerging Artist grant and began working as an independent filmmaker, producing several shorts. Followed by freelanced work as theater manager for Anthology Film Archives and Filmmakers Coop NY. In 1999 she received a DAAD Grant to study film production at the New School to write and produce her first feature documentary CINEMANIA. Since 2001 she collaborated with Eve Sussman & the Rufus Corporation New York, working as camera operator and performance artist for several art projects, including RAPE OF SABINE WOMEN and WHITE ON WHITE (Kasachstan, Aserbaidschan). In 2001 she moved back to Berlin and began working as writer and freelanced editor for several artists and filmmakers, including: Monika Treut, Heinz Emigholz, as well as instructor at UdK Berlin (Experimental Media Studies) and FU Berlin (Anthropology Media Studies). In 2006 she participated at EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) programm to develop her feature documentary URVILLE. In 2007 she worked as freelanced editor and visual artist for Christoph Schlingensief’s AFRICAN TWINTOWERS and KARPOW CITY. Since 2010 screenplay development of ELECTRIC GIRL. Her feature documentary NAKED OPERA premiered at BERLINALE 2013 ( Heiner-Carow-Award Berlinale 2013).
