Just a decade ago, the idea of a blind person regaining sight through prosthetics seemed impossible. But Grigory and Antonina did just that. Both underwent surgery to implant a device in the retina, and after long rehabilitation, they now experience so-called bionic vision — Antonina can even read large-print text. The film also follows groundbreaking experiments with a visual cortex implant in monkeys. Dramatic personal stories are interwoven with scientific insights into the technology and the very nature of human vision.
