Green Warriors – The Toxic Legacy of Warfare

.

For decades, France buried or dumped thousands of tonnes of munitions across land and sea. Today, these forgotten stockpiles leak toxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic pollutants. In a year-long investigation, Green Warriors and European scientists tested water near military sites and uncovered explosive residues, some exceeding health limits, in both public tap water and lakes like Gérardmer, still used for drinking supplies. The findings reached the Senate and spurred political action. From France to NATO’s test zones in Sardinia, this film exposes the deadly legacy of buried weapons.
