Sensory Contact

.

Alexey Trantsev and Alexey Mutin lost their arms after suffering severe electrical injuries. Years later, they have mastered the use of bionic prostheses and can now manage everyday tasks with ease. Yet one crucial element remains missing: the ability to feel with their hands — to sense warmth or cold, to feel water running through their fingers, or to touch the hand of a loved one. To meet this profound human need, scientists are developing a sensory system for prosthetic hands. Will they succeed in creating artificial sensations, and what lies behind these groundbreaking scientific efforts?
