The Return from the Other Planet

Yehiel De-Nur lived in secrecy behind the name Ka.tzetnik. His books, which shaped how millions imagined the Holocaust, fueled myths of a man writing alone at night in his Auschwitz uniform. During the Eichmann trial he was forced to reveal himself, calling Auschwitz “The Other Planet” before collapsing on the stand. Haunted by new nightmares, he sought experimental LSD therapy in the Netherlands, which led him to a transformed understanding later expressed in his final book, “I Am the SS Man,” revealing the troubled person behind the myth.
