A Brave Heart

.
Sara Bordo 2015

From the producers of the most viewed TEDWomen event of 2013 comes “A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story,” a documentary following the inspiring journey of 26 year old, 58 pound Lizzie from cyber-bullying victim to anti-bullying activist.
The film chronicles unheard stories and details of Lizzie’s physical and emotional journey up to her multi-million viewed TEDx talk, and follows her pursuit from a motivational speaker to Capitol Hill as she lobbies for the first federal anti-bullying bill.

Press

  • The Hollywood Reporter
One of the world's leading anti-bullying activists
  • Los Angeles Times
The film allows its star, Velasquez, to shine, and with her endless reserves of positive energy, eloquent speaking and willingness to be vulnerable, it's no wonder millions of people have already found her inspirational.
  • RogerEbert.com
Her story would be inspiring in and of itself, but Velasquez is such an effervescent, charismatic subject, she can't help but win your affection as well as your respect.
  • New York Daily News
She's inexhaustible, seemingly everywhere at once and, throughout director Sara Hirsh Bordo's unblinking, well-directed film, she is absolutely and fearlessly herself. Which is exactly as it should be -- the world needs Lizzie Velasquez.
  • HitFix
It's a very direct film, a lovely portrait of family and strength and just how far one voice can carry, especially when amplified in the right ways.
  • Austin Chronicle
A life-affirming doc if ever there was one, A Brave Heart is a litmus test for gauging compassion, one I would recommend everyone take immediately.
